2KGames Announces Mafia 2

2KGames Announce Gangster Game Mafia 2 For Next Gen Platforms
2KGames announced today that they will be releasing a sequel to the popular gangster game Mafia, on "next generation consoles".

The game will be set in the same era as the original, a 1940-50's fictional city filled with gun-fights, car chases and everything else you associate with gangsters, just don't expect the Godfather to bail you out of jail.

The game will feature a deep cinematic experience, a kin to a Hollywood movie, the President of 2KGames said.

We've been looking over the screenshots released and the game is looking really nice. Hit the jump to examine them yourself.

E3 2007: Stranglehold & Blacksite Dated

Midway has confirmed that Stranglehold will be released on 360 and PS3 on 7th September. Stranglehold is a third-person shooter, from hit director John Woo. Midway also said that first-person shooter Blacksite: Area 51 will be released on 360, PC and PS3 the week after, 14th September.

A demo for Stranglehold will be released in August on 360, PC and PS3. A demo for Blacksite: Area 51 is on Marketplace now, but is not worth the 1GB download as the gameplay only lasts a few minutes. Lets hope they release a new demo to give us a better feel of the game.

Half Life 2 coming to your 360/PS3 this winter!

EA have given a release date for Half Life 2: Black Box and Half Life 2: Orange Box, albeit rather vague.

In a press release for Febrauary 7th 2007, EA had this to say:

"Electronic Arts, the world’s leading interactive entertainment company, and Valve, the award-winning studio behind the blockbuster franchises Half-Life and Counter-Strike, today announced the naming and product configurations The Black Box and The Orange Box, two of the most anticipated action game offerings shipping worldwide this Winter 2007."
You heard it here first folks, EA have given a release target (which is probably not going to stick), for the end of this year!

And the box art for the multiple versions was also unvieled, a design which must have taken them all lunch to come up with:

Heres to hoping that EA actually stick to the release target, as this is bound to be one of the major releases of 2007.

Black or Orange?

Some time this year, Valve will be releasing Half-Life 2: Episode Two, but it won't be just a standard add-on pack as seen with Episode One. Instead, Valve are giving you the option of buying either a Black Box or Orange Box.

The Black Box is aimed at the PC gamer, who will probably already have Half-Life 2 and Episode One. The pack comes with Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2 for a price of $39.99 (roughly £25-30).

However, it's the Orange Box that packs the better guns, and is released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It consists of Half-Life 2, Episode One, Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress. And will be released for the princely sum of $59.99 (about £45-£50 of real money), which is an absolute bargain considering how much you're getting.

Only thing left now is for Valve to announce a release date for this, and we'll all be happy.
